My Intentions in Life for 2017

Many people say that when the new year comes they are going to be new people. I can kind of relate to that but not really because my intentions/resolutions for 2017 are to be more positive, organized, and take healthier food choices. I want to be more positive in the new year so that I can see the world in a less negative way. Negativity revolves around many people these days and affects their life a lot. I want to be more organized in the new year because I'm not very organized when it comes to my room or life in general. I feel like it would help me out in my life. Lastly, I want to choose healthier food choice. I believe that being healthy is the way to go, so I want to take healthier food choices. These are my intentions for the upcoming year.

The Best Gift I Have Recieved

In my lifetime I have recieved many gifts, most of which were good. The best gift I have recieved is a stuffed dog that I named Doradita. She was given to me in 2007 by my cousins who live in Mexico. The reason why this stuffed dog is so special to me is because she was my grandfather's dog first, then he gave it to my aunt, who gave it to my cousins, who gave it to me. Overall that dog is very old and has been in the family for a long time. I have her till this day and is very valuable to me, that's the best gift I have recieved.

Frozen Charlotte By Alex Bell

The book I recently finished is called Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell. It is dark and creepy for some people. The reason why I say some people is because the entire story has to do with dolls, so if dolls creep you out then this book might too. Frozen Charlotte is about a girl named Sophie who goes and stays at her uncle's house. She is nervous because not only did her best friend just die, but the last time she saw her cousins was a long time ago and they have changed since then. The house where she arrives to is a little bit of a murder house. Back in the 1900's it used to be an all-girl school and was shut down for a mysterious reason. Little do they know that the reason the school shut down, is still in that house. This book takes you on the journey that Sophie went on to discover why her best friend died but also to save her uncle and cousins.
I really liked this book because it is different to what I usually read. I usually read teen fiction books or books you can find on Wattpad. I don't know why but I really enjoy reading cliche teen fiction books. Either way this book was really out of my comfort zone and it was interesting. I don't like dolls so it was creepy for me. I sometimes liked how there was a lot of imagery in it and made it seem like you were actually there. Overall I really liked this book and I think a lot of people will like it.

My Name

My first name is very different from normal names but last names on the other hand are quite common. My first name is made up of parts of my grandmas' names. Bri is from my grandma named Brenda, Ma is for my grandma named Maria, and Dy is for my great-grandma named Edelmira. The reason why my parents named me Brimady is because in Latin culture it is common to name your children after their parents or grandparents. My mom didn't want to continue on with that tradition because out of my entire family, my brother and I were the first ones to be born in the United States. So, instead of naming us after them or our grandparents they decided to combine their names and make a new one.
I have two last names so they have a hyphen between them. The name right after Brimady is from my father's side of the family. There are many in the world with that surname so to different people it means something different. According to Google, my surname originated from Spain and it means "son of Ramiro". My other surname is also very common. It originated from Spain and is common in Spain, Portugal, parts of France, the Americas, and the Philippines. Google doesn't really say what it means though.

Favorite Quote

I know many quotes and to pick one as my favorite is kind of hard. A lot of the quotes I read don't speak to me in a way that makes them special to me. Most say the same thing but use different words to explain their concept. Some that I can relate most to are "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all" by Aristotle and "Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction" by John F. Kennedy.
The reason why I chose the quote "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all," by Aristotle is because I think it has truth behind it. To me this quote means that when you learn something, you shouldn't just have it stored in your mind and only use it for academic purposes or etc. You should apply those things to your morals, goals, and your life in general. We learn everything for a purpose so find that purpose, and apply it to your life.
The reason why I chose the second quote "Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction" by John F. Kennedy because I can relate to it. Every time I am doing something I ask myself why I am doing it and how does this help me in the future.

What I'm Grateful For

Thanksgiving is around the corner and for me there are many things that I am grateful for. I am grateful for my health, food, sleep, education, family and friends, and all the fandoms I am in. If it weren't for my health I wouldn't be writing this right now, it's an important asset to our lives. I am grateful for food and sleep because I love both and I enjoy both. My family and friends help me throughout my life and have always been there for me. My education is something that I don't appreciate as much as should and do sometimes take it for granted. There are so many children in the world that don't have the opportunity to learn and I do, that's why I am grateful for it. The last thing I am grateful for is very weird. The fandoms I am in are very important because they have formed who I am and I know I can always turn to them. It's weird but I am thankful to have them in my life. All in all there are many things to be grateful for and they change based on the person, but this is what I am grateful for.

Election Reflection

The presidential election just passed and we all know the results, Donald Trump is the winner. In general I don't really have an opinion, I am just happy that it is over and we finally know who the next President is going be. Now for my opinion on the results of this election, I personally don't like them. I think I wouldn't be satisfied if  Hillary Clinton won either, to me both have their pros and cons. Trump has some questionable thoughts on relevant issues and Clinton mishandled top secret information. On some national issues I don't agree with Clinton, on others I agree with Trump, and on some with neither.

I like politics but I wouldn't want to have a job in that field, it's a dirty game. I think that I am involved in politics enough because I get to state my own opinion. I am excited for the next election but at the same time I am not. The reason behind that is because we might have to go through another race like the one we just had and it was kind of stressful, but we will also get to have a chance to elect the people who run the country.

Thirteen Reasons Why-Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

The most recent book I have read is called "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. This is a young adult fiction novel and it is very interesting. It is about a teenage girl named Hannah Baker who committed suicide and left behind some tapes she recorded. They are sent to different people who in someway had something to do with her suicide. This novel is in the point of view of one person, Clay Jensen. Clay is one of the people who Hannah's tapes were sent to, but he doesn't understand how he affected Hannah. "Thirteen Reasons Why" takes you along in Clay's journey while he is trying to understand who his peers truly are.

I personally really enjoyed reading this book because it is fast paced but detailed at the same time. It isn't pouring with so many details that the story line barely moves along. To me it has the right amount of details that you know exactly what is happening and the story line still moves on. This book to me seems like a Wattpad book because of the way the characters are. In some Wattpad books the characters seem very realistic and do actions that you and I would do, that is how the characters in this book are.

Blogging Tips

Blogging and I have a love hate relationship. I like to blog about certain things like experiences I have had and books I have read. The part that I don't like about blogging is actually writing the blog. I have been blogging for about 3 years now and I still don't have the hang of writing them. I definitely have my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to blogging.

Two of the things that I have to work on is allotting time and showing my voice through my writing. I have been so used to writing like a computer and not having any emotions. This is year is actually the first time that I have tried to show who I really am through my writing. Before, my blogs were so objective. Sticking to just the facts and not showing any signs of opinions and feelings. I even knew that to others my posts were probably boring to read, but this year I want to change that.

Another thing I struggle with is allotting time just for my blog. I do my blogs whenever I have time and if that is at 10:00 pm at night then that is when it's getting done. I'm not going to say that I'm busy more like the internet takes control over my brain. This year I am going to try to make time just for my blogs so they aren't being done in the middle of the night.

Where Do I Want to Go

I enjoy traveling but I haven't been to a lot of places. The only places I have travelled to are New York, Tennessee, Texas, and Mexico. When I went to those places I was little so I don't remember much. Instead I am going to tell you about some of the places I want to go.

One place that I really want to go to is Germany. I have loved Disney ever since I was little, specifically the Disney princesses. When I found out that the Neuschwanstein castle was the inspiration for the castle in Sleeping Beauty I got excited. I think that the Neuschwanstein castle looks better than the castle in Sleeping Beauty because the architecture looks so much better than in the movie. I also like how real castles look, I think it brings some of those medieval times feels back into our time period. Another place in Germany that I would like to go is Munich. I want to go to Munich because it is very cultural and architecturally interesting.

Another place I would to visit is Budapest, Hungary. It has buildings that you can't find in America. It doesn't have huge skyscrapers or a McDonald's on every street corner. It is something different than what I grew up with. I want to have different experiences than staying with the same old things that I grew up with. I just think it's a very interesting place that a lot of people don't think of when they think of traveling somewhere.

Paper Towns Blog

The book Paper Towns by John Green, is fast pace with many exhilarating things happening in just the span of a couple of chapters. We have met a good variety of different characters like the main, Margo Roth Spiegelman and Quentin Jacobsen, and many supporting characters. Even though the book is based on the relationship and journey of Margo and Quentin, the supporting characters have a big impact on the story. All of which at some point, in the book, face issues. Most of those issues revolving around relationships with other characters or where they live, Jefferson Park in Orlando, Florida. Understanding these characters is a huge part of understanding this book.

Margo is one of the main characters in the book, Paper Towns, alongside Quentin. Those who are around Margo considers her a mystery, including Quentin. Due to childhood experiences, she has grown to love mysteries eventually becoming one herself. A mystery that no one can figure out. The book states, “Margo always loved mysteries. . .I could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one.” (page 8) She considers herself a “paper girl”, a girl who has been formed by the people around her but is not really her true self. The book states, “. . .I thought about I was made of paper. I was the flimsy-foldable person. . .People love the idea of a paper girl. . .Because it’s kind of great, being an idea that everybody likes.” (page 293-294) In school Margo is quite popular, she has many friends and even a boyfriend who is popular himself, Jason Worthington. Nobody really knows who Margo is behind her appearance. She is an insecure teenager who would rather hang out with Quentin and his friends than the friends she has now. She enjoys living on the edge and in the moment.

Margo’s outer looks are a big part in her school life because that is what made her known throughout their high school. To Quentin, Margo wasn’t too skinny or fat, she was right in the middle. The book states, “. . .you could not say that Margo Roth Spiegelman was fat, or that she was skinny. . .” (page 50) She has blue eyes and chestnut hair, when she ran away to Algoe, New York, she cut her hair. The book states, “. . .and Margo’s blue eyes were staring back at me…Her chestnut hair, stick straight…Her hair is much shorter she has choppy bangs above her eyebrows. . .” (page 25-281) The book doesn’t state a lot of her appearance but with the information they do give us we can picture somebody in our heads.

Quentin is the other main character of the book, Paper Towns. For almost his entire life Quentin has been in love with his neighbor Margo, but she doesn’t know it. He is a quirky, nerdy, geeky guy who hangs out with his school’s band members, Ben and Radar. Sometimes Quentin doesn’t have a lot of confidence in himself and with some of his actions. The book states, “I woke up late, took too long in the shower. . .enjoy my breakfast in the passenger seat of my mom’s minivan at 7:17. . .” (page 11) He is really unpunctual and doesn’t get to places on time most of the time. In some aspects, Quentin can be the complete opposite of Margo.

My Future

My goals in life are to be healthy, successful, happy, independent, stable, out of my parents' house. I want to travel, live out of the U.S., have a car, have a pet, and go to a university. I want to be and live healthy because I honestly like to eat healthy food and know that I am healthy. I want to be successful because I want to make my family and myself proud of me. I want to be happy because I believe that you should do what makes you happy. If you are doing something that doesn't make you happy then what is the point. I want to be independent and stable because I think that is something that is important when you live by yourself. I love my parents but I don't want to be in their house for the rest of my life, I want to move out of their house and have my own apartment.

I want to have a car because I have grown up around people who are really into cars and they have made me get into cars too, and it also a way of transportation. I want to go to a university because ife you don't study then you can't get a good job and if you can't get a good job then you don't have a lot of money. I want to have a pet because I like animals and that is also one less animal in a pound or the streets. I really enjoy traveling and exploring the world but I don't get to do it a lot, so in the fueeture I would like to travel more.

In 10 years, I see myself graduated from a university, having a job, traveling, having a car, being happy, and healthy. All of these things are my personal goals but they are goals because that is how I see myself in the future.

To be honest I don't know what I want to be when I get older, I am stuck between two things. Being chef because I like food, eating and making it. At the same time I have found interest in being in the Navy, which is a good option too. To me being in the Navy just seems so cool like something out of a movie. I love being in the water and just swimming around. I like how they protect us on the oceans around us, a big part of the world. I like both but I don't know which one to pick.

My dreams and aspirations are the same as my life goals. I don't dream about being famous or rich. I dream about being happy, healthy, and successful. Those are things that sound simple but can be really hard to have. I just think that there are more important things in life than being rich or famous.
